Founded in March 1998, E-Book Systems Inc aims to bring the natural look and feel of the paper-based book to the digital paradigm, with its patented Digital Flip® Technology.

To have an understanding of why E-Book Systems was formed, we need to go back to history. Some 5,000 years ago (3000 BC), literature was documented on scrolls. Between 100 and 200 AD, the documenting of literature evolved from scrolls to books. And the ‘Page Flipping’ revolution was born.

Beginning in the 1970s, information became largely available on the Internet. And so, the way we read began to change from ‘page flipping’ to ‘page scrolling’. For many years now, we have been reading electronic documents in an un-natural way, scrolling from top to bottom of our computer screens.

The ease of access and global reach of the Internet paved the way for a Digital Age, where electronic documents became the norm. The proliferation of electronic documents was accompanied by an increase in the need for on-screen reading. E-Book Systems recognized this, and identified the need for a book-like interface for favorable on-screen reading experiences - hence, bringing back the ‘page-flipping’ revolution to computers with its patented Digital Flip® Technology.

Since its humble beginnings, E-Book Systems has researched, developed and launched several digital photo album products :

FlipAlbum™ 3.0 was first launched in 1998; in the following year (1999) - Creative selected FlipAlbum™ to be bundled with their Next Generation All Digital LCD Monitor, FlipAlbum™ CD Maker 1.0 was introduced to allow PC users to create top quality digital photo albums on CDs for easy, non-commercial distribution; in 2000 - FlipAlbum™ CD Maker Business Edition” to enable businesses and commercial entities to create and distribute a licensed number of FlipAlbum™ CDs for commercial purpose, ZDNet Awards FlipAlbum 3.1 with it's Highest 5 star Ranking after being reviewed by its staff; in 2001- `FlipAlbum CD Maker Professional Edition' was introduced to cater for Professional Photographers and Small Businesses to easily create and distribute high quality virtual photo albums, catalogs and newsletters; in mid 2001 - FlipAlbum® 4.0 was launched; in 2002 - Tucows awarded FlipAlbum® 4.2 with 5 Cows; towards the end of 2002 - Version 5 of the Award-Winning FlipAlbum® was launched to allow Digital Photo Albums or FlipBooks to be viewed on DVD players; in 2003 – following the success of the FlipAlbum® 5 series, a CD Shopping Cart Plug-In was developed for FlipAlbum® 5 Professional, Sales of Popular FlipAlbum® Series surpasses ‘1 Million’ copies, Release of Mac FlipAlbum® 3 Suite, Mac FlipAlbum® 3 Pro as well as a new version of FlipAlbum® 5.5 Windows® series was announced; in 2005 - FlipAlbum® 6 was launched with Advanced Features for MPEG2 Video Support and Font Embedding, and most recently E-Book Systems is gearing up for its launch of FlipAlbum® Windows Vista Suite and Pro versions.
