E-Book Systems Announces Macintosh Version of FlipViewer
Digital Publication Reader
SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 24, 2005--E-Book
Systems, Inc., creators of the patented Digital Flip® online publishing
technology, announces today the release of Mac FlipViewer®, a software
that allows Apple Macintosh users to read E-Book Systems' customers'
publications in a digital 3-D page-flipping format.
Mac FlipViewer® for Mac OS X is a software reader that enables digital online publications like magazines, catalogs, newspapers, newsletters and annual reports to be viewed from the user's computer. Mac FlipViewer®'s intuitive page-flipping interface lets readers "turn" pages, rapidly skim pages and go directly to a certain page number, just like a printed publication. The streaming download function also lets users begin reading the publication without waiting for the entire file to download. "We're pleased to offer Mac FlipViewer® to the growing number of Macintosh users around the world," said Seng Beng Ho, president of E-Book Systems. "Mac FlipViewer® gives Mac owners the same online publication reading experience that PC owners have enjoyed for years with our original FlipViewer® software and Digital Flip® technology." E-Book Systems' Digital Flip® technology, used in conjunction with Mac FlipViewer®, turns printed publications into an online or offline multimedia-enhanced 3-D page-flipping format. The company can convert any PDF, Quark, PageMaker, FrameMaker, Word and HTML files into its XML-based page-flipping format. The company also provides conversion tools to enable publishers to do their own conversions. The online publications allow readers to click on links on pages and advertisements to access advertisers' websites. The Digital Flip® technology can incorporate a variety of multimedia elements, like MID, WAV and MP3 files, to enhance the publication. E-Book Systems' Digital Rights Management (DRM) solution safeguards content providers' intellectual properties. E-Book Systems' customers include FHM Germany, duPont Registry, CNET China, Fairchild Publications and several Reed Business Information and Cygnus Business Media titles.
