3.2.7. Adding a Text Box

When you import a document, FlipPublisher™ 1.0 adds as many pages as required to the FlipBook and also adds text boxes on each page to accommodate the text.

FlipPublisher™ 1.0 also enables you to add a text box manually to a FlipBook page.

2. Click Delete Selection Keep Content. FlipPublisher™ 1.0 deletes the text box and moves the content into the previous or next text box in the chapter, if any.

Or

Click Delete Selection Remove Content. FlipPublisher™ 1.0 deletes the text box and its content.

FlipPublisher™ 1.0 does not repaginate the FlipBook when we retain the content but delete the text box.

3.2.9. Extracting Embedded Objects

Consider a Microsoft Word document that includes pictures or other embedded or linked objects. When such a document is imported into a FlipBook, all linked and embedded content is still a part of the imported document and not the FlipBook structure.

Linked content gets converted to embedded content when a document is imported in to a FlipBook.

For example, if you import a Microsoft Word document with embedded images, you will not find separate copies of the image files in the folder FBName_opd_files.

FlipPublisher™ 1.0 enables you to extract such embedded information, if required. Once you have extracted the embedded object, it becomes a regular FlipBook object and you can perform all supported operations on it.

To extract an embedded object:

1. Right-click the text box containing the embedded object.

2. Click Extract Embedded Objects. All embedded objects in that text box are extracted and placed as independent objects on the FlipBook page.

Each extracted embedded object is stored as a file in the folder FBName_opd_files.

3.2.10. Changing Text Layout

When you import a document, FlipPublisher™ 1.0 paginates the content into the FlipBook in a single column. Thus, even if your word document was in a 3-column format, the content in the FlipBook will be in the single column format.

FlipPublisher™ 1.0 enables you to layout the text in multiple rows or columns.

To change the text layout:

1. Right-click the text whose layout is to be changed. The text box is highlighted and a popup menu is displayed.

2. Click Split Into 2 Columns.

Or

Click Split Into 3 Columns.

Or

Click Split Into 2 Rows.

Or

Click Split Into 3 Rows.

If you rearrange the text into multiple rows, then the text box containing the text is split into multiple text boxes, one for each row. The advantage is that you can format the text in each text box into a different number of columns, if required.

3.2.11. Changing Layout of All Pages in a Chapter

By default, any changes in the layout of a FlipBook page affect only that page and not the whole chapter. However, FlipPublisher™ 1.0 enables you to apply the layout and formatting of one page to all pages in a chapter. The advantage is that you do not have to format each page individually and also that you gain an uniform look and feel.

To apply the layout of a selected page to all pages in a chapter:

1. Flip to any page of the chapter.

2. Change its layout as required. Refer Section 3.2.10 Using Multiple Rows or Columns to Display Text.

3. Right-click in the margin area of the page.

4. Click Page Layout Reset Current Chapter Using Current Page from the displayed options. All pages in the chapter are reset using the layout of the current chapter.

An image inserted on the page whose layout you are applying to the chapter will appear on every chapter page. This feature is useful when you want an image such as a logo to appear on every page.

3.2.12. Changing Layout of Certain Pages in a Chapter

FlipPublisher™ 1.0 also enables you to retain the layout of certain chapter pages while changing the layout of the whole chapter, if so required.

To change the layout of only certain pages in a chapter:

1. Flip to the page whose layout is to be different.

2. Change its layout as required. Refer Section 3.2.10 Using Multiple Rows or Columns to Display Text.

3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 for all pages that are to have a different layout.

4. Flip to a chapter page that is to have a common chapter layout.

5. Change its layout as required. Refer Section 3.2.10 Using Multiple Rows or Columns to Display Text.

6. Right-click the page.

7. Click Page Layout Set as default from the displayed options. All pages in the chapter, other than those whose layout was changed immediately before, are reset using the layout of the current chapter.

If the layout of a specific page is to be retained, the page layout must be applied just before the Set as default is applied. Chapter pages whose layout was changed earlier will be reset to the selected layout.

3.2.13. Resizing the Text Box

When a document is imported, FlipPublisher™ 1.0 places the text in a text box on each page. It positions the text box such that it occupies the page area bound by the margins as shown in Figure 56.

Figure 56: Default placement of text boxes in the page

To resize the text box:

1. Flip to the page whose text box is to be resized.

2. Right-click the text box whose size is to be changed. The text box is highlighted and a popup menu is displayed.

3. Click Adjust Size To Fit Page Size from the displayed options. The text box occupies the whole page.

Or

Click Adjust Size To Fit Page Height from the displayed options. The text box occupies the height of the page while maintaining current width.

Or

Alternatively, you could also:

1. Flip to the page whose text box is to be resized.

2. Click Edit Select Objects.

Or

Click on the Standard toolbar. You can now select the various objects on a FlipBook page by clicking them.

3. Click the text box which is to be resized. The text area is now demarcated by dotted lines with resize handles displayed on the edges.

4. Click and drag any of the resize handles to resize the text box.

5. Click Edit Select Objects.

3.2.14. Setting Text Background Color

By default, a text box is transparent. This means that the text box has no background color and the page background is the text background. FlipPublisher™ 1.0 enables you to apply a background color to the text box.

You can also make the text box background translucent so that the page background is also visible. Refer Figure 57.

Figure 57: Text Background Effects

To set a background color for the text box:

1. Right-click the text box whose background color is to be set. The text box is highlighted and a popup menu is displayed.

2. Click the option Background Color… from the displayed options. The Color dialog is displayed. Refer Figure 58.

3. Select the required color from those displayed under Basic colors.
